Narrative tools in the game industry -- Things to consider
- There's no tool to know or learn before getting a job as a game writer/narrative designer, unless the job posting specifies it. Some studios still work with Google or Office apps like Excel/Sheets and Word/Docs.
- Many studios have proprietary tools when it comes to game writing/narrative design. Those tools are often inspired by other existing tools, tailored to fit the needs of their projects. For example, large AAA studios can have a “swiss-Army” tool that can deal with in-game texts, branching dialogues, localization and VO within a same tool. Others might have a combination of different softwares that do the same.
